an important ancient town since the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Spring and Autumn Period, as well as the Warring States; one of the famous important towns in China in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties; used to be the political, military and cultural center of the whole country for times. Wuhan is also a city with magnificent sceneries. Imagine a city divided into three parts by two artery rivers, one quarter of the city area is water! The largest in-city lake, the East Lake •covers an area of 33 square kms, around 6 times of the area of the eponymous West Lake in Hangzhou.
After our first dinner in Wuhan, we will take sometime for Yangtze River Night Excursion. Traveling on the Yangtze River in the night, you not only feel the clatter from water padding your cruise and watch the shadow of lighting swaying in the river but also admire the prosperous city .It is really cool and comfortable to have such a refreshing night tour.
Near the harbor where the old houses from colonial time are located there are a lot of pubs, bars and restaurants. On the other side across Han River in the district of Hanyang the open air bar of Holiday Inn Riverside Hotel is a nice place to have a drink while looking at bridge no 1 and the illuminated Yellow Crane Tower. Live music there is as well. A romantic place it is but alone it's no fun to go there. If alone is may a nice idea to go shopping to Andersen Bakery where you can get a lot of cakes, biscuits filled with cream and other sweets European and American style.

Day 2

Place & Transport: Wuhan/Chibi/Wuhan
Today's Activities: Ancient Chibi Battlefield, Wind Borrowing Platform, Chibi Battlefield Exhibition Center, Cliff Stone, Zhouyu Statue,
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch and Chinese Dinner
Detailed Itinerary: Those who have read the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" will find Chibi (Red Cliff) on the Yangtze, which is an exciting war site. This is where, in the year of 208, the three kingdoms engaged in a fierce fight. Admirers of Zhu Geliang will naturally visit Longzhong, where the wise strategist farmed and read until Liu Bei, later King of the Shu Kingdom, visited him three times in order to invite him to be his adviser. Clearly visible from the river, the small town of Chibi (Red Cliffs) was the setting for the most important battle of the Three Kingdoms' period, making for an interesting half-day walk from the high street bus stop. It was here in 208 AD that the northern armies of Wei, led by Caocao, descended on the combined southern forces of Liu Bei and Sun Quan. Though heavily outnumbered, the southerners had brought two remarkable strategists along - Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong - who took full advantage of Cao's decision to launch a naval assault across the river. Misled by Pang Tong's spies, Cao chained his ships together on the north bank whilst preparing for the attack, and Zhuge Liang - using Taoist magic - created an unseasonal southeasterly wind and sent a flotilla of burning hulks across the Yangzi, completely incinerating Cao's armada and permanently imprinting the color of flames on the cliffs. The rock face on the southern bank just outside town is carved with the two characters for chibi ", supposedly by the triumphant Wu general, Zhou Yu.
Afterwards, we return Wuhan and visit Yellow Crane Tower. Remarked as the symbol of Wuhan city, Yellow Crane Tower has been in existence since the year 223 during the Three Kingdoms Period (220 - 280). Due to the ideal location, it was built by Sun Quan (182 - 252, King of Wu) as a watchtower for his army. After hundreds of years, its military function was gradually forgotten and the tower was enjoyed mainly as a picturesque location.

Day 3

Place & Transport: Wuhan/Jinzhou/Yichang
Today's Activities: Jinzhou Ancient City Wall, General Guan s Cemetery,
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch and Chinese Dinner
Detailed Itinerary: During the Three Kingdoms Period Jingzhou was the city fought for by the three different kingdom armies. In the city there are places of historic interest, including more than 700 tombs of the Chu State nobles and ruins of the Three Kingdoms.
Passing by Dangyang, we will visit General Guan s Cemetery. From the city of Dangyang, 2 kilometers drive west you will come to Guan Ling (Guan s Cemetery). Guan Ling in Dangyang where the body of General Guan Yu was buried is one of the three biggest Guan Yu s Temples in China. It has been there for more than 1700 years. Guan Yu, also named Guan Yunchang, was born in Jiezhou, Yuncheng, Shanxi Province. He was the best of the five brave generals of the Shu Kingdom.
